5 Shaving Myths Busted

Contrary to what you might think, shaving still generates a lot of rumors and myths. But don’t worry, we’ve come to the rescue! Here are 5 myths about shaving:

1. Shaving damages your skin

This is not necessarily true. The main factors that cause damage and irritation on your skin are the design and the quality of the blades of your razor. If you have an old or a razor that is not well designed, the blades could create irritation and multiple cuts on your face.

2. The more blades the better

While it is true that the number of blades on a razor affects its shaving performance, it’s important to strike a balance. Too many blades can cause skin irritation and ingrown hair.  So, what’s the solution? The solution is to use a one-blade razor, which can deliver a close shave without causing skin irritation or ingrown hairs.

3. The more pressure the better

This seems so intuitive – the harder you press the more hairs you will remove right? Wrong! In reality, applying too much pressure when using a razor might harm your skin and increase your risk of getting nicks and cuts. The answer is to keep your hands light and allow the razor weight to do the work.

4. Newer blades cause more cuts and nicks

Although this might make sense, in reality it is not true at all. In fact, old blades are the ones to blame! The older the blade, the more likely it is to cause cuts and marks. An easy way to know if your blade is dull is if you feel like you are not getting a closer shave like you usually do or if it is tugging at your skin.

5. Using multiple skincare products causes spots

Spots can accumulate when you use a variety of skincare products that aren’t appropriate for your skin type, but if you’re using the right products, you shouldn’t experience any problems.
